. advice background About users of East Hackney LAW Although established as Kingsmead Advice Service to serve the Kingsmead Estate, with advertising and promotion work restricted to Kingsmead estate the number of users from outside the estate has increased each year. In 2000/01 72% of clients were from E9 post-code
district of which 95% were from Kingsmead estate. In 2001/02, 65% of users were from the E9 post-code
district of which 72% of users were from Kingsmead estate. Approximately 35% of clients using the service in
2001/2002 live in2 neighbouring estates and communities in the surrounding
Wick and Chatham wards. 9.6% of people using the Kingsmead Advice Service
in 2001/02 lived outside London Borough of Hackney. Tenants from Gascoyne estate (in Wick ward) and an
employee of Sanctuary Housing have contacted and visited Kingsmead Advice
Service and are keen to establish an outpost on Gascoyne estate. Core Arts and Leonard Cheshire Hackney have also expressed a keen interest in establishing a surgery and office within their offices in Homerton, working with users and the Hackney Marsh Partnership Projects Director to develop a proposal.
