. concorde club for young people Concorde Centre for Young People was established in 1964. From the mid-1960's the Concorde Club Management Committee had oversight for a variety of youth work (uniformed clubs, disco's and entertainment, pool and snooker). The Centre was a key focus for youth work on Kingsmead estate during the 1970's, 80's and 90's. During the mid 1990's Concorde teamed up with the new Kabin Prokect and Kingsmead Community Trust to help develop the programme. An organic garden project was launched with support from Barclays Bank. In 2000 Concorde Centre experienced a reduction in its management committee. This in part resulted in the closure of the centre and all work with young people. Work was undertaken supported by London Youth and Hackney Marsh Partnership to re-open the building and re-establish the youthwork. In 2001 the Concorde Centre for Young People Management Committee transferred the management of the youth programme to Hackney Marsh Partnership. In 2002 Concorde Centre re-opened following an 18-month closure. Concorde Centre for Young People is now the base for Stepping UP Youth Project - a programme managed by Hackney Marsh Partnership. Kate Reed was appointed as Youth Project Co-ordinator in September 2003. home || || ||advice || || jobs+learning ||news
