bike ride route and details

"The bike ride is now in its 10th year and has helped raise thousands of pounds for youth work in Hackney."

The ride

The route is the same as previous years - the journey passing through the heart of the Essex and Cambridgeshire countryside.

We will still pass through Rickling Green, so those wanting to stop off at the Cricketers pub can!   Again, you can choose your level of mileage. Some people will ride 28 miles, others will ride the main 34 mile route. For those that like a challenge there is the popular 41 mile route.

Getting there

This year we will start out from the Concorde Centre on Kingsmead estate in Homerton, E9. You can explore the centre - find out about the work we're doing. Then you can make your own way directly to the start of the ride. Transport from the Concorde Centre, to and from the start is laid on for bikes and cyclists if you need it.

The route

The route and all the extensions are fully signed, each rider receives a detailed map and instructions just in case. The start and finish point is The Yew Tree Pub in Manuden OS. 167. The main 34 mile route is pleasantly undulating through delightful villages and scenery on very quiet lanes.

Support

Recovery (the broom wagon) will again be available to pick up in case of major breakdown.

Food and Refreshments

Water and squash stops will again feature, however we recommend you bring your own lunch as shops are non existent and we cannot guarantee that the Chequers pub - at the midway point - will be able to offer anything other than drinks upon till 3pm.
