about stepping up

5 Things You Never Knew About Stepping Up

1. Stepping Up has a community based approach.

We think understanding the context, the neighbourhood, can help inform and shape a relevant and effective service. With a neighbourhood emphasis Stepping Up workers are better able to identify with people some of the barriers, which prevent them accessing an opportunity. We are then able to support people in confronting these barriers and finding the best solution

2. Stepping Up is locally based.

We aim to provide a comprehensive and accessible service, local and on the doorstep. Our main base is in Kingsmead and Hackney Wick wards.

3. Stepping Up is working on other estates in Hackney

We go to where ever we are invited and whenever we have the resources to effectively deliver.

4. Stepping Up manages a range of project and services

including Communiversity, Central Information Point, UK-online and Learn Direct and Intermediate Labour Market. We were asked by Concorde Centre for Young People Management Committee to manage and deliver a range of youth activities at Concorde Centre for Young people

5. We work as part of Hackney Marsh Partnership

Stepping Up is independent and managed by people living in the local community. All our services are free – we provide a service funded by a range of sources including local and central government. By working as part of Hackney Marsh Partnership our clients benefit significantly from useful resources (including East Hackney LAW, and our community development and youth work projects).
