homerton X

The Homerton X programme has emerged out of on-going conversation and debate between voluntary organisation in Homerton (including Chats Palace, Core Arts, Hackney Marsh Partnership, Homerton Row Adventure Playground and Leonard Cheshire - Hackney) and statutory organisations (including Homerton Hospital and Homerton Library).

In June 2001 an away day was held at Bromly by Bow Centre. This event highlighted the potential for development - if groups would share agendas and work together to address key issues confronting the area.

Following protracted discussions in January 2003 Hackney Marsh Partnership instigated meetings with senior staff in Homerton Hospital and Hackney Libraries. Key staff supported a move to establishing a steering group and an application to the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund to finance an options appraisal and masterplan for Homerton - confronting key issues for residents and organisations.

The Consortium commissioned to take forward the master plan process will report in May.

Interviews and source material informing this process will be on-line and available shortly.
