become a member

All our work is glued together by our members. Our membership is made up of all kinds of people who support our work in various ways (tell friends, volunteer time, use the projects and services) the vision and work of Hackney Marsh Partnership.

We are not an exclusive club. Membership gives you a voice and an opportunity to influence the direction of our work.

Who can become a member?

We want to increase our membership to include local people from Hackney - and people who are interested in our aims and purposes.

We are looking for members as individuals not as representatives of organisations

What membership gives you

  • A chance to participate in deciding on the priorities of the Hackney Marsh Partnership
  • A way of keeping you informed about the advice work, education training and employment projects, youth work, community development work, and our activities
  • A chance to speak out about issues that concern you
  • An opportunity to work with others on changing practice
  • A chance to take part in group talks and discussions
  • A chance to act as a representative of your community
  • Power to nominate and vote for members of the management committee
  • A chance to stand as a Management Committee member

Free Membership

Membership is free. You don't pay a penny. You can join at the first meeting or event you attend.

Management Committee

Since May 2000 the Hackney Marsh Partnership has worked to strengthen the management committee.

An external evaluation of the work of the Hackney Marsh Partnership organisation in July 2001 produced recommendations we have been implementing.

The HMP chairperson is Dr Roger Green, Director of the Community Research Centre at University of Hertfordshire. The treasurer is Ian Campbell, manager at the Institute of Directors (IoD). Committee skills include staff management, recruitment, organisational culture & change, strategy/planning, social policy, fundraising and local networks.
