'A child is not a vase to be filled but a fire to be lit.' Francois Rabelais.
Stepping UP youth programme goes from strength to strength.
We offer a wider range of activities for children and young people who are looking for something different.
Our activities include creative arts (music and drama), sports activities (football, boxing, badmintion, pool, table tennis, basket ball and circuit training) and using computers, as well as lots of one to one advice and guidance, and short developmental courses.
We aim to support young people to develop their unique skills to the maximum, opening doors to opportunities they may never have experienced before, and offering support, guidance and education through the maze of life!
We are currently running the following:
Stompers:
A ‘stay and play’ parent and toddler group (0-4 years) offering an exciting programme of educational, play and developmental activities and opportunities.
After School Project:
A fun and exciting environment for 8-12 years olds to explore free play, informal & developmental activities along with creative, educational workshops and sporting opportunities.
Reconnect:
A new programme of employment and basic skills training which aims to enable young people who are not in education, employment and training to engage in meaningful activities. The project also runs alongside the information, advice and guidance sessions for one to one support.
Youth Club:
Running three nights a week, the evening youth club offers centre-based activities incorporating an open access youth club, structured sporting and creative activities, information, advice and guidance, sexual health and drugs and alcohol awareness workshops, cooking, discussion group, internet access, intergenerational and cross-estate work.
Holiday Schemes (for both groups 8-12 & 13-19 years):
We run two holiday schemes through out the majority of the school holidays, combining centre-based programmes with offsite activities and trips.
