kingsmead community food co-op

"This is all really good quality fruit... and it's great value..." Kingsmead resident

The Kingsmead Community Food Co-op finally began in November 2003. Hackney Marsh Partnership Community Development worked to bring together volunteers, the local school, health visitors and dieticians and East London Food Access, who know all about running food projects.

The shop takes place at Kingsmead School. For opening times click here.

The aims of the community food co-op are to:

  • Develop a service which enables local people to get hold of affordable, good quality fruit and vegetables.
  • Establish the project on Kingsmead and grow it as a community enterprise onto other estates locally in Hackney.

East London Food Access works to support and foster community food initiatives in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Hackney.
